I have to say teething is by far the only part of this motherhood journey that bums me out! It isn’t because I can’t handle it, but because I know it bothers him. So, I wanted to find a way that I could help him through the process.
He has teething rings, but he didn’t take well to holding something very cold in his hand for an extended amount of time. Therefore, those never really “stuck”. So, I moved on to something else.
If you are following me on Instagram, then you know that I made Biggie (my son) some Cinnamon & Banana Oatmeal Teething Biscuits. Wait, you haven’t seen it? Follow me on IG here and check out the videos of the biscuits here, here and here. Anyway, he really liked them! They lasted awhile before getting soft while he rubbed his gums with it. I was worried that they wouldn’t stay hard for long, but they were great! If you would like a recipe or video of them, please let me know!
He eventually stopped wanting them. I will admit that I haven’t tried to make them again, but with a different flavor. Which, I will do that very soon. I think he was bored with them after awhile. As previously mentioned in my Baby Led Weaning And 8 Month Breastfeeding Update video, I like to play with different flavors for his taste buds.
On Amazon, I found a teether and saw that it came in a package with an all-natural soothing gel. At first, I was unsure, but decided to buy it. The Nuby Soothing Gel is made with all natural ingredients and it’s Belladonna, Benzocaine, and BPA free! The Gum-EEZ teether features a unique textured design to provide comfort to your baby’s delicate gums.
I place a small amount across both sides of the teether and place it into his mouth. He naturally bites down on the toy and the gel goes to work on his gums. At first, he was very unsure and was interested in investigating the teether first. The medicine works fast! It took about three days for him to get comfortable with the teether. I put his teether onto his Nuby Silicone Pacifinder and the pair are a match made in heaven.
I only use the soothing gel once a day and only when he is really irritable. Which I can tell by his communication (whining) and gnawing at his fingers. I recommend this to any mom who needs something while on the go as well!
