The Single Most Effective Shaving Hack

With so many shaving tips, hacks, and informational tools out there — here’s the single most effective hack that can immediately be implemented into your self-care routine.

Why Do This Hack

When shaving the skin becomes irritated due to the friction from hair removal. In short, shaving stresses the skin and promotes itching sensations. Itching develops about 1-5 days after shaving the intimate area. Another effect is that of in-grown hairs.

In-grown hairs occur when hair that has been cut curls back into the skin or grows initially, but never pierces the hair pore. Hair follicle irritation can lead to skin discoloration, which leave behind noticeable marks on the intimate area.

Shaving can toughen the skin and cause the hairs to grow back thicker than they were prior to shaving the area.

The Hack

Eliminate the use of razors on the intimate area.

When shaving, use a battery operated or rechargeable hair trimmer. Try to stay away from razors. If not using a hair trimmer, go to a waxing location that you trust by using peer reviews.

After shaving the area, take a safe oil of your choosing to soothe the pores and prevent skin irritation afterwards. Typically, spa resorts or wax retreats utilize tea tree oil for its calming properties. Do not make your own. Buy it directly from the waxing store. Another rule of thumb, is to ensure the base is a safe oil, like unrefined coconut oil. The oil is to be placed only on the mons pubis, or outer area of the intimate parts. This will alleviate further irritation and reduce the itching sensations.

If itching sensations arise, pat — don’t scratch.
